The Fog of Transit

We've been hanging in the Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge for the past three hours or so, both of us slipping in and out of a rather comfortable semi-sleep, suffused with gate change announcements and clattering glasses. The fog of the transit - it's a state of permanent fatigue accompanied by the longing to 'get on with it.' For the adventurous, a spin around the terminal will provide ample opportunities to people watch (the weathly, the wise, and the downtrodden - all heading to their varied and fitting destinations). However, this takes a modicum of energy, and the while in the fog of transit, the goal is more about conserving energy for the next push - in our case, our 13 hour flight to Johannesburg that departs at 11:45 local time (8:45am PDS).

Now, once we arrive at our hotel in Capetown, we have to push through the desire to remain pulled into the fog of transit - that tired, just need a little nap to get going thinking. In fact, the day of our arrival, according to the forecast, offers the best weather of our stay. We need to push through and get ourselves out and about.

Until then, I'll let the fog of transit overtake me once again for a little nappers.

Leslie took this nice photo back in LAX. Well before the fog of transit fell over us
